She was born to parents Paul and Dovie Woodruff Marlar on October 18, 1927, in Burnsville, Mississippi.

Dot was a member of First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge and a member of the Elks Lodge #1684 in Oak Ridge and had been an active member of the Oak Ridge Boat Club, where she had served as an officer. Before her declining health, she was active in Oak Ridge Women’s Club and was an avid University of Tennessee fan, attending many of the games.

She was preceded in death by her children, Theresa Gail Bingham and Gary Todd Northcutt, and by her sister, Vernell Marlar.

Her survivors include her husband of 67 years, William T. Northcutt Jr., of Oak Ridge; son, Tommy Northcutt and wife Jamie, of Farragut; daughter, Paula Jo Northcutt, of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Jennifer Wilkinson Heuvelman and Mike Wilkinson, Leah Northcutt Davis, and Rebecca and Angela Beams; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dow Burton, Raymond Wolfenbarger, David Cobb, Rex Moody, and Herbert Wolford.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Home Option Healthcare and Covenant Hospice for the loving care they portrayed in taking care of Dot.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family received friends Tuesday, September 23, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with the funeral service at 7 p.m. and Rev. Jenny Caughman officiating. The graveside service was held at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, September 24, at 11 a.m.
