Thomas Lowell Craig

Pastor Thomas Lowell Craig, age 52, of Oliver Springs, passed away Wednesday, September 3, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

He was born May 12, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Leslie Buford Craig and Virginia Draper Craig, who are both deceased.

Pastor Craig began serving the congregation of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in January 2002. Prior to his ministry at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, he was the youth pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina, where he served 15 years.

He was also an adjunct faculty member at Bob Jones University, where he trained young men for future ministry. He was very community-minded, had a genuine love for people, and took a personal interest in everyone he met. His passions were his ministries, mentoring, and missions. His desire was that others would come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kim Baker Craig; daughters, Allie Taylor and husband Zack of Greenville, South Carolina, Aimee Cronemeyer and husband Mark of West Hartford, Connecticut, and Anna Craig, of Oliver Springs, freshman at Roane State Community College; and sisters, Linda Paisley and husband Ken of Howell, Michigan, and Nancy Scharmen and husband Gary of Marion, Illinois.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the church, and a private interment will be held at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family asks that any memorials be given in his name to the Missions Fund at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 1451 Bethel Valley Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.

Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. An online guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
