Oak Ridge Schools Superintendent Bruce Borchers will host a Technology Town Hall on September 30.
The town hall will start at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, in the Oak Ridge High School Performing Arts Center.
“Oak Ridge Schools would like to invite all community members, parents, and students to attend,” a press release said.
The town hall will include a presentation by Borchers, followed by a question-and-answer forum.
The release said Borchers’ short presentation will discuss the benefits of Oak Ridge Schools launching a Bring Your Own Device, or BYOD, platform starting the second nine weeks of school, on October 20, and the future of Oak Ridge Schools’ technology plan with a continued move towards integrating 1:1 (district-purchased devices for all students).
After the short presentation, Borchers will answer questions concerning BYOD, 1:1, and any other technology-related questions, the press release said.
“We are excited to offer this event to the residents of Oak Ridge and are eager to begin BYOD, in all Oak Ridge Schools, starting on October 20,” the press release said.
Oak Ridge Schools is also having BYOD information sessions for parents and students. More information is available on the school system’s website.

- September 9—Willow Brook Elementary School at 6 p.m.
- September 11—Glenwood Elementary School at 6 p.m.
- September 16—Linden Elementary School at 6 p.m.

- October 7—Robertsville Middle School at 6 p.m.
