Our Beloved Jonathan Elliott Hairston, 22, left this world to be with our Heavenly Father on August 31, 2014.
Jonathan was a devoted son, adoring brother, and a truly caring individual. He was a senior at the University of Tennessee, a U.S. Marine, and was employed by the UT office of the Veterans Administration.
Jonathan was a vibrant young man who always wore a beautiful smile on his face and was a friend to all. He had a giving heart, and a tremendous gift and drive for helping those he met with a kind word, a loving hug, or a heartfelt handshake. He had a genuine spirit of giving and helping those in need, and was always thankful for the blessings that God provided him and his family.
He leaves behind his mother, Mitzi; father, John II; his grandfathers, Master Gunnery Sergeant “Pappy” Rodriguez (USMC Ret.) and Sergeant First Class John Hairston Sr. (USA Ret.); sisters Michelle and Carmen Hall, Raquel Rivera, Michelle and Jonzara Hairston; brothers Royce Rivera, Sergio Hairston, and Trey Hairston; and many aunts and uncles.
The family will celebrate Jonathan’s 22 years and four days of life on this earth with a Celebration of Life and Memorial Service on Thursday, September 4, with visitation from 6-7 p.m., followed by the service at 7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary at 158 South Jefferson Circle in Oak Ridge.
In lieu of flowers, Jonathan would be touched if you would make a contribution to the Knox Area Rescue Ministries, who will carry on his heartfelt desire to help those less fortunate than he. An online guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
