Janet Lee Nichols

Janet Nichols, age 73 and a resident of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, August 26, at Parkwest Medical Center.

Janet was a long time resident of Coalfield before moving to Oak Ridge. She was retired from Methodist Medical Center, where she served as unit secretary for 25 years. She was a proud member of Big Mountain Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Neil Nichols and her parents Joe and Elaine Rudder Whittaker.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Eldridge and husband Michael of Oak Ridge; brother Donny Whittaker of Powell; grandchildren, Ashley Tipton of Oliver Springs and Anthony Phillips of Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii; and one great-grandchild, Gabrian Tipton. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, and two very special friends; Patsy Campbell and June Kidwell.

The family received friends Thursday, August 28, at Sharp Funeral Home, and a graveside service followed at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with Rev. Andy Autrey and Michael Eldridge officiating.
