Obituary: Dora Duncan Bridges

Dora Duncan Bridges, age 88, a resident of Harriman, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the Harriman Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Bridges was born September 15, 1925, in the Upper Camp of Windrock Mountain. She was a lifelong resident of this area.

Dora was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a faithful Christian and a member of the Beechfork Holiness Church.

Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death by her husband, Daws Bridges; by her parents, Alver and Eliza Daughtery Duncan; by brothers, Robert, Matt and Houk Duncan; and by five sisters, Delia Patterson, Mazie McGhee, Elizabeth Duncan, Roma Duncan, and Rosella Duncan.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Bridges of Harriman, David Bridges and wife Diane of Harriman, Paul Bridges of Harriman, Novetia Rambo of Clinton, Wilma Campbell of Clinton, and Silas Bridges and wife Maryam of Knoxville; and by 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 31, 2014, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Sam Loy officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Friday, August 1, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
