Peggy Lucile Vinyard

Peggy Lucile Vinyard, age 85, of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born October 26, 1928, in Midco, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur Jewell and Grace Payne Greene.

Mrs. Vinyard moved to Oak Ridge in 1960 with her husband, Lloyd, and children. She was a homemaker and one of her favorite hobbies was baking, which she loved to share with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Vinyard; infant daughter, Marsha Vinyard; and brother Jim Greene.

She is survived by sister, Adalea Penberthy and husband Donald of Imperial, Missouri; daughters, Linda J. Vinyard of Oak Ridge, Paula Anderson and husband William Anderson III of Knoxville, Tina Ferguson and husband Harold of Oak Ridge, and Laura Sams and husband Edwin of Newport News, Virginia; son, Scott Vinyard and wife Lynda of Oak Ridge; 11 grandchildren, Will Anderson and wife Pria of Knoxville, Jamie Porter and husband Terry of Columbia, South Carolina, Andrea Hogan of Cincinnati, Ohio, Natalie Hogan of Denver, Colorado, Leah Shivers and husband Shaun of Alexandria, Louisiana, J. Aaron Sams and fiancé Brittany Day of Powell, Joshua Sams and wife Shelby of Newport News, Virginia, Jeremiah Sams and wife Sarah of Hampton, Virginia, Timothy Vinyard, Austin Vinyard, Mitchell Vinyard and fiancé Brittany Smith all of Oak Ridge; eight great-grandchildren, Cary, Tiernan, Isabella, Kiyale, Lillian, William, Malachi, and Allison; and sister-in-law, Berniece Ketcherside and husband Bill of Warrensburg, Missouri.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 1, from 6-8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tikki Dixon of Oak Grove AME Zion Church officiating.
