Obituary: Larry Spratling

Larry Spratling, age 61, of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2014, at his home.

He was born January 2, 1953, in Opelika, Alabama, the son of Charlie Will and Annie Frances Odom.

Larry worked at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge for over 17 years. He enjoyed riding around and enjoying his music.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by step-father, William (BroBro) Odom; aunts, Annabel Williams and C. Barbara Bolton; and uncles, Carlston Spratling and Eugene Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memories devoted cousins, Shirley Guinn, Deborah Long, Anthony (Gloria) Spratling, and Janice (Spencer) Spratling of Oak Ridge; Gwen (Lincoln) Schofield of Huntsville, Ala., Wanda Miller and Gilda (James) Walker of Detroit, Mich.; special cousins, Kenneth Spratling of Atlanta, Ga., Dewanna (Donnie) Staples, Deshundra (Darrell) Williams, Tammy (Ronnell) Threat, Johnnie (Melissa), and Shawn Williams, all of Oak Ridge, David DeMiko (Sherrell) Long of Charlotte, N.C., and Dr. Anthony (Kadijah) Spratling Jr., of New York, and Erica and David Miller of Detroit, Mich., and Javien and Jiminquas Johnson, Mocha and Darryl Middleton, SeNise and David Jr., and Dominic (Alana) Long; special cousins in his life, the late Madeline Spratling and family, Kenneth (Danya) Spratling, Omar Spratling and Gwenicka and Satara Schofield, all of Oak Ridge; Juanita (Norman) Hawkins, Johnnie (Lori) and Chris Spratling, all of Detroit, Mich.; special aunt, Kitty Carpenter; special friends, Kathy Allen, Ronnie Graham, DonWon, and Harry Guinn, all of Oak Ridge; step-brothers and sisters, Stanley, Sarah Lynn and Louise of Chattanooga and Patricia of KY; Donna and family of Oak Ridge and Joyce and Miracle Flowe of Knoxville, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family received friends on Monday, July 7, 2014, from 12–1 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral began at 1 p.m. with Rev. Charles Yancy officiating. The graveside service followed at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
