Naomi Ruth “Mickey” Baker, age 79, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Mickey was born April 4, 1935, in White County, Tennessee. At an early age, the family moved to the Fork Mountain Community in Anderson County. She later moved to Oliver Springs and graduated from the Oliver Springs High School in 1953. Following her high school graduation, she moved to Harriman, where she continued to live.

Mrs. Baker retired as a telephone operator from Bell/South following several years of employment.

She was a member of Mills Baptist Church in Harriman and her greatest enjoyment came from visiting with family and cooking.

Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Baker; by her parents, James Monroe Scott and Dovie M. Rice Scott; by sisters, Helen Comer, Hattie Ables, and Aline Stooksbury; and by two brothers, Seth Thomas “Tom” Scott and Harvey Scott.

Mrs. Baker is survived by several nieces and nephews; by a special family, the Sargent family, who was a important part of her life; by sister-in-laws, Louise Davis and husband Ernest, of Nashville, Helen Savage and husband George, of Sparta, and Bessie Scott of Oak Ridge; by brother-in-laws, Charles Lester Baker Jr. and wife Sammie, of Spencer, and Joe Burl Baker and wife Elizabeth, of Coalfield; and by a host of other relatives and special friends.

The family received friends Thursday, June 26, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Eddie Neeley and Deacon Ronnie Silvey officiating. Burial and graveside services were held Friday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens.

Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. An online guest book is available at www.sharpfh.com.
