The transition to a new federal contractor is complete at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge and Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. The new contractor, Consolidated Nuclear Security LLC, began operating the sites Tuesday, July 1.
Here is a message from NNSA Production Office Manager Steve Erhart and Consolidated Nuclear Security Chief Executive Officer Jim Haynes:

Today marks the beginning of a new era for the Pantex Plant and the Y-12 National Security Complex. For the first time, the two largest NNSA nuclear production sites are consolidated under one contract. Whether you are in Texas or Tennessee, we are now one team delivering our national security mission.
As the leaders of the federal and contractor organizations, we are proud to join with you. We are also confident about the future. Pantex and Y-12 are tremendous national assets individually. As a combined enterprise, we envision even greater contributions from the sites as we integrate production work more seamlessly, leverage resources and lessons learned, discover new efficiencies that further improve performance and reduce costs, and reinvest savings into our facilities and infrastructures.
During this time of change, it is especially important that we remember our combined core values of trust, excellence, teamwork, communication, commitment, mutual respect, integrity, professionalism, and innovation. We are committed to these values, and hold ourselves and our management teams accountable for living them every day. We encourage and expect you to do the same.
A new course is being charted for Pantex and Y-12, and we are glad you are with us. Our success will depend on our individual and collective focus, ideas, and continued commitment. You have been part of the proud history of these two sites. Now we have the opportunity to shape our future together while we continue to protect the freedom of our nation and make the world safer.
