Biloski seeks re-election to County Commission

Anderson County Commissioner Robin Biloski is seeking re-election to Anderson County Commission in the Aug. 7 election. Biloski represents District 8 in Oak Ridge, which includes the voting precincts of Emory Valley, Hendrix Creek, and Woodland.

During her tenure, Biloski has helped secure and complete energy initiatives for the county that are sustainable and save taxpayer money, a press release said. It said she secured donated funding to repave the county’s offices in Oak Ridge by working with the County Clerk and Trustee to open a drive-through operation and actively supported the expanded and updated Dental Clinic in Oak Ridge, which are all within District 8.

“I feel very positive about my contributions to Anderson County these past eight years, and seeing the expansion at Roane State and the beginnings of the new facility for Emory Valley Center shows the continued growth within District 8,” Biloski said. “Acting as a resource for city/county inquiries is what I most love doing as an elected official. I have always considered myself a professional, independent, and educated voice in my service to all county residents. I humbly and respectfully ask those in District 8 for their vote in the upcoming election.”

Paul Spray is again Biloski’s treasurer for her campaign, the press release said.

“Nothing gives me more pleasure than supporting Robin again in her re-election,” Spray said. “Robin brings honesty, energy, and knowledge of Oak Ridge from her years of volunteerism, and public service. She works well with others and serves as a necessary ‘bridge’ for Oak Ridgers to their county government.”

The press release said Biloski’s experience on Commission has included three years as Commission vice chairman, two years as Operations, Nominating chairman and Anderson County TV Committee chairman, and first-time Oak Ridge chairman of Anderson County Fire Commission. She has also continued her years of service on Operations, Tourism, Legislative, Anderson County Chamber, and Anderson County School Foundation and Health Department committees, the press release said.

“That involvement has allowed me to interact with diverse people and to learn how to achieve positive results for our quality of life in many areas,” Biloski said.

Biloski served on the Oak Ridge Municipal Planning Commission for six years and was elected in a city-wide race to the Oak Ridge Charter Commission in 2003. She is a past president of the League of Women Voters and is currently a member of East Tennessee Economic Council, Shelter Animals Rescue Group, Humane Society of Oak Ridge, Clinton Civitan, and Elks Lodge of Oak Ridge. She serves on the boards of the Community Reuse Organization of East Tennessee, Keep Anderson County Beautiful, and Emory Valley Center Foundation.

Biloski is a graduate of Leadership Oak Ridge, Leadership Campbell County, and East Tennessee Regional Leadership.

“Giving back to my community has always been part of my life,” Biloski said. “Relocating to Tennessee almost 20 years ago was a true blessing. I have met many people and enjoy developing these lasting relationships to help all of us in Anderson County.”

The press release said Biloski was the first development director at Emory Valley Center in Oak Ridge.

“That job provided me the opportunity to help individuals who seem to need us the most,” she said. “Raising awareness for those with disabilities and to raise funds for a new center in our community was a wonderful experience.”

Biloski is the wife of Bill Biloski, who is employed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, served on the Oak Ridge Industrial Development Board for 13 years, and was the 2013 recipient of Oak Ridge’s Muddy Boot award. They have three children and one granddaughter. The family is a member of St. Mary’s Church in Oak Ridge.

The press release said Biloski’s goals are to continue her fiscally conservative watch for the citizens, remain approachable and accessible, continue to emphasize higher education goals of increased employment compensation within the county, and maintain constant dialogue with Oak Ridge on development for boosts in retail, public safety, and affordable housing.

“She wants all to know that her decision-making emphasizes what is good for Oak Ridge is good for Anderson County, and vice versa, as she believes that will produce a win-win scenario for all,” the press release said.
