Charles ‘Charlie’ Eugene Jenkins

Charles “Charlie” Eugene Jenkins, age 84, a resident of Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville and formerly of Oak Ridge and Crossville, died Friday, June 29, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

He was born March 4, 1928, in Lebanon, the son of Wentie Seaton Jenkins and Buna Vista Kemp Jenkins.

He served during World War II in the U. S. Army occupation forces in Japan. Mr. Jenkins retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems in 1989, where he was an expeditor at the Y-12 plant.

He was a long-time member of Robertsville Baptist Church and Faith Masonic Lodge #756. Mr. Jenkins enjoyed spending time and reminiscing with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Conie, Garland, James, and Ponie Lee.

He is survived by son, Mike Jenkins and wife, Irene, of Oak Ridge; daughter, Jill Goodman and husband, Buster, of Maryville; the mother of his children, Anne Jenkins, of Oak Ridge; brothers, Walter Jenkins and wife, Linda, and Robert Jenkins and wife, Ann, all of Murfreesboro; sisters, Polly George of Lebanon and Margaret Ann Agee and husband, Jerry, of Cedar Hill, Texas; grandchildren, Elizabeth Goodman and Matthew Goodman, of Maryville; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Freeman Tomlin officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank all the staff and doctors at Elmcroft Assisted Living, Brakebill Nursing Home, and the Critical Care Unit at Parkwest Medical Center for all the compassion, care, and support shown to Mr. Jenkins and his family.
