Joy Justice

Joy Justice, age 67, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014, at her home.

Joy was born September 29, 1946, in the Rosedale Community in Anderson County. She lived in Rosedale throughout her childhood, moving to Oliver Springs as a teenager, where she has lived for over 50 years.

Joy retired as a technical writer in February 2014 at EG&G, ORTEC Inc., in Oak Ridge following more than 30 years of employment.

She was a faithful Christian and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, chapter 211, in Oliver Springs.

She enjoyed reading, being active in her Church and the Eastern Star, and most importantly, spoiling her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Sadie Bunch Justice; by her husband, Dennis R. “Shot” Daniels Sr.; by sisters, Judy Williams, Rheda Brown and Delores Marlow; and by a brother, Cordice Louie Lowe.

Joy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Ray Daniels Jr., and his wife Christine Alderfer Daniels of Cookeville; by grandchildren, Eleanor Christine Daniels and Deacon Ray Daniels; and by a sister-in-law, Phyllis White and her husband Jerry of Oliver Springs.

She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of special friends.

The family received friends Tuesday, May 20, between 5 and 7 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating. Burial and graveside services were held Wednesday, May 21, at 1 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 871 N. Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909.

Sharp Funeral Home is serving the Justice family, and an online guest register book is available at www.sharpfh.com.
