Jean Davis Goodman, formerly of Oak Ridge, died March 18, 2014, in Little Rock, Ark., at the age of 88 after a brief illness.
She was born June 15, 1925 in Calderwood, Tenn., the daughter of Mack and Pauline Griffin Davis.
Jean was an avid knitter, gardener, and in her younger days played golf. She was a homemaker, having raised two sons and her granddaughter.
After leaving Oak Ridge and until her death, she resided with her daughter-in-law, Laura Phillips, of Jacksonville, Ark. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge, but had attended St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville since moving there.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles Goodman; her son Mike; her granddaughter Michelle Beavers; and her parents and siblings.
She is survived by a son, Don Goodman and his children; nieces, Judy Simpson of La Grange, Ky., Barbara Yewasis of Richmond, Ky., and Patti Eisenberg of Malibu, Calif.; sister-in-law Phyllis Hodge of Clifton, Tenn.; and many grandnieces and nephews.
A brief graveside service was held on Friday, March 21, at 1 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations to First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church of Jacksonville, or to a preferred charity in remembrance of her many acts of kindness and generosity throughout her lifetime would be most appreciated.
