Edward Turner Creech

Edward Turner Creech, 90, of Oak Ridge passed away on Feb. 9, 2014.

Mr. Creech was born to parents Charles Blair Creech and Louise Joanna Jones Creech on April 8, 1923, in Harlan, Ky.

He was a veteran with the Air Corp. and played football in high school and in college. He received his bachelor degree in chemistry from Eastern Kentucky State University. He was a member of Sigma XI, Scientific Research Society of North Carolina, Oak Ridge Chapter, and the American Chemical Society.

Retiring from Lockheed Martin at the Y-12 facility in 1988, his expertise as a plant-wide trouble shooter and problem solver was well respected.

Mr. Creech was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herman and Howard Creech; and sisters, Mildred Foy, Mabel Heck, and June Creech.

His survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dana Ball Creech, of Oak Ridge; sons, Lawrence Edward Creech and wife Lois Ann Martin, of Oak Ridge, and Jeffrey Lynn Creech and wife Fay Fugler Creech, of Ponchatoula, La.; brother-in-law, Joe Ball and wife Doris, of Somerset, Ky.; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ball, of Kingsport; nephews, David Heck and wife Carol, of Oak Ridge, Pat Foy and wife Tammy, of Bulls Gap, Tenn., Johnny Foy and wife Tobey, of Alpharhetta, Ga., Kenton Ball, of Lexington, Ky., Todd and wife Sherri Ball, of Lexington, Ky., and Byron and wife Betsy Ball, of Nashville; and nieces, Priscilla Morris, of Cleveland, Tenn., and Irris and husband Bret Boaz, of Chicago, Ill.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Lakeesha Hovey and Tracy Fisher for their tender and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in the form of donations to Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 10088, Knoxville, TN 37939-9910.

The family received friends Friday, Feb. 14, from 6:30–7:30 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Dr. Tim Borchert officiating.
