A Saturday evening concert with the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra will feature the music of Bach, Vivaldi, and Mozart.
It will also feature singer Meghan Mayes, winner of the Youth Aliyah Honors Concert in Oak Ridge. She will be in the spotlight for “Exsultate, Jubilate” by Mozart, a press release said.
The orchestra will be led by conductor Dan Allcott, and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. The church is at the intersection of Oak Ridge Turnpike and Tulane Avenue.
The Baroque Bonanza concert is part of an Oak Ridge Civic Music Association concert series.
Members of the string section of the orchestra will be featured in the Bach and Vivaldi concertos.
Vivaldi’s “Concerto for two cellos in G minor” will highlight the talents of Ihsan Kartal and Dan Allcott on cellos.
The “Concerto for two violins and strings” by Bach will include Karen Kartal and Susan Eddlemon.
The “Concerto for D minor, Op. 3” by Vivaldi will round out the concert with featured musicians Eddlemon and Karen and Ihsan Kartal.
Allcott said there will be a good variety of baroque music for this concert.
“We think of Bach and Vivaldi as composers of this type of music,” Allcott said, “but Mozart learned baroque-style compositions when he was studying in Italy.”

The Chamber Orchestra will present this program at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Tellico Village Community Church.
