Obituary: Donald Frederick Alderman

Donald Frederick Alderman, 87, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville.

Mr. Alderman was born on June 5, 1926, in Rushford, N.Y. Before moving to Tennessee, he lived in Rushford and Olean, N.Y.

He was a retired machinist and believed in the Baptist faith. Mr. Alderman had a great passion for writing. He was a published author, of both a novel and a book of poems.

Donald served his country bravely in the Second World War. While serving, he received several medals, citations, and ribbons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur H. Alderman and Grace E. Miller Alderman; by sons, Brian and Mark Alderman; and by brothers, Harvey, Ralph, and Robert Alderman.

Mr. Alderman is survived by his wife, Marvelyn Forby Alderman of LaPorte, Ind.; by a daughter, Donna McKeown of Lake Forest, Calif; by a grandson, Michael McKeown of Boston, Mass.; and by a sister, Leora Anderson of Houghton, N.Y.

Following the wishes of Mr. Alderman, he was cremated and his ashes will be buried in New York.
