An auto parts manufacturer in Clinton has announced a second major expansion, a $53.8 million investment expected to create 81 new jobs during the next two years.
The investment was announced Tuesday by Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty and executives from Aisin Holdings of America Inc.
The company’s subsidiary in Clinton is called Aisin Automotive Casting Tennessee, and it’s located along Frank L. Diggs Drive south of State Route 61 and just west of Interstate 75. It’s the company’s second major business expansion since locating in Tennessee in 2004.
“The strength of Tennessee’s automotive sector is a direct result of the dedication and hard work put forth by the 900 auto manufacturers and suppliers who call Tennessee home,” Hagerty said. “Thriving companies like Aisin recognize the benefits of doing business in our state and continue to take advantage of our prime location and superior business climate. I appreciate Aisin’s decision to further invest in Tennessee and thank the company for its continued confidence in our quality workforce.”
Aisin Automotive Casting Tennessee is an automotive parts supplier for General Motors, Nissan, and Toyota.
“With the increasing sales of engine components in North America, the role of our plant here in Clinton becomes even more important to the overall business expansion of the Aisin Group,” said Stephen Barnes, president of Aisin Automotive Casting Tennessee. “The dedication of our team members along with the continued support from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and Tennessee Valley Authority has provided this opportunity for Aisin to continue another stage of growth here in Anderson County.”
Aisin now occupies a 524,000-square-foot facility in the Interstate 75 Industrial Park in Clinton, and it employs 595 workers.
“The additional equipment investment will support both increased customer demand and new products secured for future models,” a state press release said.
The release said the Clinton operation is a full-process, die casting facility that includes casting, machining, and assembly to produce engine components such as water pumps, oil pumps, and pistons that will be installed in automobiles produced by Aisin customers located throughout North America.
