Dale Jones Boatman, age 73, of Corryton, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at her home.
She was born Aug. 10, 1940, in Black Mountain, N.C., the daughter of Arthur and Iona Johnson Sneed.
Mrs. Boatman retired from Oak Ridge Associated Universities, where she was an accounting assistant. After retirement, she worked as a cashier at the Midway IGA in Corryton.
She was a member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church of Knoxville. Mrs. Boatman was an avid animal lover and enjoyed traveling and cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anne Sneed Newton, and her first husband, Edward E. Jones.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Don Boatman; daughter, Kelly Nist and husband Jeff of Knoxville; grandchildren, Andrew Nist and Laura Nist; and very dear friends, Linda Young Vowell, whom she considered a sister, and Linda’s husband, Ronnie Vowell of Oak Ridge.
The family received friends on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 5–7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral followed at 7pm with Rev. Steve Ross officiating.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
