The 14th annual Lavender Festival in historic Jackson Square was in Oak Ridge this past weekend.
There were many repeat vendors, such as Erin’s Meadow Herb Farm and Heaven Scent, as well as musical performances and food. Performers included Allen McBride, Liz and Tim, and Frost Bottom Boys.
The festival featured information and products related to gardening, cooking, health, and aromatherapy. There were also plants and herbs for sale as well as arts and crafts.
Here are a few pictures from this successful, well-attended event.

Great event! Well planned, well attended.
Excellent programs –hope the vendors did well.
Now the criticism–there should not be any animals allowed in the festival.
Even the small dogs were a walking hazard. Too many people and especially, many children that can be bitten when approaching these canine animals.
I am a dog person that realizes that one never knows what the dog is thinking. The festival was very loud and full of sights and smells for a dog. There were too many strangers for them to approve. There were way too many confrontations between two strange dogs.
Some idiot brought in two full grown pit bulls. They were on leather five foot leashes attached to regular collars. When these two pits were approached by another dog that barked at them, they attacked. It was one heck of a dog fight for about 30 seconds. Everyone at the festival heard the ruckus. Thankfully, no person was injured, including the dumbass owners.
Pit owners always say “there are so gentle. Mine wouldn’t bite a biscut”.
I was attacked by a shepherd 40 years ago that was my best friend for years. He apparently snapped like these two pits Saturday.
The City of Oak Ridge is very liable for damages, since the Festival carries no insurance.
