Keep Anderson County Beautiful is having a special recycling program at the Potter’s Clearance Center on Oak Ridge Turnpike on Saturday.
During the special recycling event, volunteers will collect old computers and peripherals, televisions (no cabinetry), cell phones, rechargeable and button batteries, fluorescent light bulbs (tubes and compact), used books (but not textbooks), and eyeglasses.
Personal document shredding will also be offered courtesy of ORNL Federal Credit Union from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a press release said.
Potter’s Clearance Center is next to Willow Ridge Garden Center and Landscaping in east Oak Ridge.
The special recycling event is being done with help from 5 R Processors of Morristown.
The press release said Americans annually generate millions of tons of waste in homes and communities.
“KACB urges everyone to take the pledge to reduce, reuse, and recycle by learning about the recycling options in the community, finding out what materials are collected for recycling, reducing personal waste by recycling and starting to recycle one new type of material,” the release said.
The event is part of the national America Recycles Day, sponsored by Keep America Beautiful. For more information, visit www.keepandersoncountybeautiful.org.
