Charles Gregory “Greg” Burnette, age 42, a resident of Coalfield, passed away, Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Greg was born on Sept. 6, 1971, in Oak Ridge. He was a car enthusiast and also enjoyed fishing and drag racing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Burnette; by an infant brother, Terry Wayne Burnette; and by an older brother, Bobby Ray Burnette Sr.
Greg is survived by his mother, Nina Burnette, by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Burnette, and by a son, Harley Neikrik, all of Coalfield; by sisters: Judy Pratt and husband Horach of Clinton, Susie Rhodey and husband Randy of Oak Ridge, and Sherie Mullins and husband Bradley of Coalfield; by nephews, Michael Pratt of Clinton, Bobby Ray Burnette Jr. of Oliver Springs, Randall Rhodey of Oak Ridge, and very special nephew Brandon “Bandit” McKamey of Coalfield; and by nieces, Michelle Davis and husband Leroy of Clinton, Dalene Brown of Oliver Springs, Shine Roberts and husband Bryan of Clinton, Nikki Russell and husband Tommy of Oak Ridge, and very special niece, Bella Mullins of Coalfield. He also had several great-nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Vicki Burnette of Coalfield; by uncles, Jesse “Greazy” Blankenship and Dwight Blankenship; and by aunts, Carol Blankenship, Viola Rollins, and Brenda Gibson and husband David.
The family received friends, Saturday, Oct. 26, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dewey Brown and Pastor Garvan Walls officiating. Burial and graveside services were held Sunday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. at the Oliver Springs Cemetery.
