Ivalina Martin, “Aunt Lina,” was born March 29, 1928, in Claxton to the late Henry and Mollie Thomas Jackson.
She departed this life on Oct. 26, 2013, at River Oaks Assisted Living in Loudon.
She was a graduate of Morristown College in Morristown, Tenn., and a former employee of the Oak Ridge Care Center and the Knox County Office on Aging. She was a life-long member of Haven Chapel United Methodist Church, where she served as pianist, treasurer, secretary, communion steward, and was a member of the choir. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Womens Society.
Ivalina was an energetic and loving person. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, and attending local flea markets.
She was preceded in death by husband, M. L. Martin Sr.; brothers, Rufus, Otto, and Tony Jackson; and sisters, Louisa Moore, Mary Gadson, Pearl Wilkerson, and Zelma Chance.
She leaves to mourn her passing a loving daughter and son, Tanyau (James) Wyatt and Martin (Mary) Martin II; three grandsons, Priest (Nicole) Martin, Brandon (Nuria) Martin, and Nicholas (Shameina) Wyatt; two great-grandchildren, Cierra Martin and Tre’Vyne Higgins; sister, Katherine Scott; sister-in-law, Mildred Jackson; devoted nieces, Carolyn Wilkerson and Geraldine Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 2, from 12–1 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. J. Ellis McCleary officiating. The burial will follow at Haven Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery at 220 Raccoon Valley Road in Powell.
