Oscar Phillips, age 75, a resident of Petros, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Mr. Phillips was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Petros.

Mr. Phillips retired from Tri-tech Products as a machinist following 25 years of employment. He was a member of the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ivory Jean Ferguson Phillips; by his parents: James Phillips and Mammie Bunch Phillips; by his brothers: Terry Phillips and Sam Phillips; by sisters, Dolly Lambert and Alice Ferguson; and by a brother-in-law, Harvey Ferguson.

Oscar is survived by children, Mary Glisson and husband George of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Marie Parker and husband Kenny of Moulton, Ala., Louise Payne and husband Scotty of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Oscar Lee Phillips and companion Jimmy of Moulton, Ala., Joann Bailey of Lancing, Tenn., Brenda Farmer and husband Joe of Sunbright, Tenn., and Daris Freytag and husband Johnny of Lancing; and by 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by brothers, Charles Phillips and wife Barbara of Oliver Springs, James Phillips and wife Merline of Oliver Springs, and Robert Phillips and wife Cathy of Sunbright, Tenn.; by sisters, Sally Langley of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Ina Gonzales of Oliver Springs, and Christine Carroll of Oliver Springs; and by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The family received friends Monday, Oct. 14, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeff Parrott officiating. Burial followed at the Petros Cemetery.
