Information International Associates Inc. announced Monday that it has been awarded a $24 million federal contract to operate the Homeland Defense and Security Information Analysis Center, or HDIAC. IIa will operate the center for the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Technical Information Center, or DTIC.
A press release said the work will focus on research and analysis in eight major Homeland Defense disciplines: homeland defense and security; critical infrastructure protection; weapons of mass destruction; chemical, biological, radiologic, and nuclear defense; biometrics; medical; cultural studies; and alternative energy.
“IIa is required through this contract to proactively and responsively provide timely and authoritative information relative to key research and development concepts and acquisition functions, results and trends, applications and processes, and assessments of HDIAC technology on military operations, and assessment of international R&D technology,” the release said.
Activities covered under the contract include all aspects of identified or potential military and national security-related applications of HDIAC technology.
IIa is joined in this effort by its team of subcontractors: TASC, Northrop Grumman Information Systems, SciTech Services, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and Oak Ridge Associated Universities, the release said.
“IIa’s successful 25-year track record supporting complex data management programs helped earn our team this contract,” IIa Founder and Chief Executive Officer Bonnie C. Carroll said. “We’re excited to have been selected to provide this tremendous service for the government. With this win, IIa will operate or support two critical, national scientific and technical information centers in Oak Ridge.â€
IIa currently supports the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Scientific and Technical Information, or OSTI.
As part of the new contract, IIa will be responsible for developing databases of both information and human resources related to the HDIAC scope. IIa will develop and operate the information infrastructure for both managing the international information resources as well as tracking use of the center’s products and services, the release said.
“Finally, IIa will be responsible to develop and maintain anticipatory marketing of products and services to decision and policy makers in the acquisition community as well as other stakeholders in the Department of Defense components, other U.S. Government agencies and departments, their contractors, and other authorized recipients,” the release said.
The contract award is sponsored by the Defense Technical Information Center.
