Thelma Rose Silvey, age 81, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, at her home.
Mrs. Silvey was born Aug. 8, 1932 in Harlan, Ky. She has lived in Oliver Springs since early childhood.
She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo Lively and Jesse Butler Lively; by her husband, Meredith Silvey; by a daughter, Barbara Duncan; by a brother, William Lively; and by sisters, Ruth Lively, Gladys Russell and Betty Braden.
She is survived by seven children, Jimmy Silvey and wife Mary of Clinton, Cecil Silvey and wife Carol of Oak Ridge, James Silvey and wife Peggy of Oliver Springs, Helen Mckay and husband Burke of Oliver Springs, Jesse Silvey and wife Brenda of Oliver Springs, Pam Hunter and husband Jerry of Oliver Springs, and Vincent Silvey and wife Tamaia of Wartburg.
She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren; by a brother, Tom Lively and wife Lavanda of Oliver Springs; and by nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 13, between 6 and 7 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Eugene Hunter officiating.
