Ronald Smith

Ronald E. Smith, age 76, of Clinton passed away Friday, June 8, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Ronald was born Aug. 16, 1935, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Clayton and Mildred Tait Smith.

He was a graduate of the General Motors School for machinist and moved to Tennessee in the late 1950s. Ronald was employed as a machinist with Acraloc Corporation for more than 40 years. He loved UT sports and was a member of Moose Lodge and the Eagles of Oak Ridge.

In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by his sister Shirley.

He is survived by eight children, Ron Smith and his wife Tafonda of Kingston, Rick Smith and his wife Debbie of Kingston, Mark Smith of Kingston, Debbie Plemons and her husband Doug of Kingston, Lauren Poole and her husband Larry of Kingston, Diane Russell of Kingston, Jimmye Chapman and her husband Casey of Oak Ridge, and Shelly Knight and her husband Dan of Kentucky; brother Jack Smith and his wife Nora of Detroit, Mich.; sister Joyce Pirrone and her husband Vick of Detroit, Mich.; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with wishes, Ronald was cremated and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be sent to Covenant Hospice, 3001 Lake Brook Blvd., Suite 101, Knoxville, TN 37909.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home.
