Robert S. Butler, age 78, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Tuesday, July 23, at his home.
Mr. Butler was born July 19, 1935, in Harriman. He was a lifelong resident of Oliver Springs.
Robert and his late wife, Connie, owned and operated Butler’s Grocery on Poplar Creek. He retired from Y-12 Federal Plant in 1993 as a supervisor. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Connie†Butler; by his parents, Charles T. Butler and Alma Irene Thomas Butler; and by a sister, Louise Plemons.
Robert is survived by sons, Bobby Butler and wife Drema of Oliver Springs, Randy Butler of Oliver Springs, Chuck Butler and wife Rhonda of Oliver Springs, and Dewayne Butler and wife Whitney of Oliver Springs; by daughters, Debbie West and husband Tim of Oliver Springs, Mona Miller of Bardstown, Ky., and Becky Childs and husband Jeff of Harriman; and by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, Thomas Leon Butler and wife Kay of Oliver Springs; by sisters, Georgia Butler, Linda Headrick and husband Johnny, Charlotte Gallaher and husband Carlos, and Geraldine Davenport, all of Oliver Springs; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 25, between 12 and 2 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating. Burial will follow at the Dyllis Cemetery.
