An event organized by a nonprofit set up to support President Barack Obama is hosting a Saturday afternoon event meant to raise awareness about climate change.
The event—”Turn Up the Heat on Climate Change”—is scheduled from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the planned new home of the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church in front of the Joe L. Evins Federal Building. It’s been set up by Organizing for Action.
A press release said 97Â percent of climate scientists agree that man-made climate change is a crisis that affects everyone.
“It is not just a Republican or a Democratic problem, nor a liberal or conservative problem,” the press release said. “If you are a living, breathing creature on planet Earth, it is a problem for you.”
Two speakers are scheduled: climatologist Joanne Logan, who will discuss the effects of climate change in East Tennessee, and Mary Headrick, who unsuccessfully ran as a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2012 election. The release said Headrick is familiar with the political aspects of climate change and will discuss how to effectively address it.
The meeting is in the grassy lot at 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike near Summit Medical Center and McDonald’s.
“Watermelon will be available to help keep everyone cool on this hot weekend in East Tennessee,” the release said.

Organizing for Action is the active political front for Obummer’s socialist agenda. They are mostly funded by multimillionare liberals like Soros.
