Linda Spitzer, an administrative professional for UCOR, has been named president of the Tennessee division of the International Association of Administrative Professionals, according to a press release.

Spitzer was elected to the board as secretary in 2009, and was elected president by the members of the 17 chapters that comprise the Tennessee division, the press release said. She became president at the division’s annual meeting, which was held June 1-3 in Chattanooga.

“I feel honored to have been elected president of an organization that has enriched so many administrative professionals across the state,” Spitzer said. “Being a member of IAAP has given me opportunities I would never have had otherwise, and it has helped me do my job better.”

Spitzer will serve for one year. She has worked for the U.S. Department of Energy for 31 years, transitioning to UCOR last August when the company became DOE’s cleanup contractor. She is executive assistant to three senior UCOR executives.

Spitzer has been an active member of IAAP since 1992, and in 2001, she was chosen as the Oak Ridge Chapter’s secretary of the year and Tennessee division secretary of the year.

IAAP, founded in 1942, is a nonprofit professional association for office professionals that has approximately 22,000 members and affiliates and more than 500 chapters worldwide.
