Lavada Bacon Smith, age 91, of Oak Ridge, born June 28, 1921, passed away, Wednesday, June 19, at Tennova Residential Hospice.
Lavada and Dwight Smith have been residents of Oak Ridge since 1943 and among the earliest members of First Baptist Church.
Lavada was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight H. Smith; daughter, Linda Smith Thomas; parents, Clyde and Stella Bacon; and brothers, Charles and Paul Bacon.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Blankenship Roberts of Oak Ridge; three brothers, Robert C. Bacon Jr., Mort Bacon, and Don Bacon; two sisters, Mary Gene Warner and Patty Wilson; two grandsons, Michael Blankenship (Dawn) and Rob Blankenship (Penny); four granddaughters, Wendy Averitt (Will), Jodi Holloway (Greg), Sally Mahon (Russel), and Lindsay Mitchell (Drew); nine great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Winton; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was Saturday, June 22, in Hamblen Cemetery in Lee County, Va. The family requests any memorials be made to First Baptist Church, AGAPE Center, 1101 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN, 37830. An online guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
