Restoration Services Inc., or RSI, and its voluntary Employee Outreach Committee have joined efforts to offer eight $1,000 college scholarships to “help students achieve their greatest potential through higher education,” a press release said.
The company announced this week that six scholarships were awarded to graduating high school students who will be attending college in the upcoming fall 2013 semester. The remaining two scholarships were awarded to children of RSI employees who are upcoming sophomores, juniors, or seniors currently enrolled in an accredited college for the 2013 fall semester. Scholarship recipients were selected from submitted applications that included academic accomplishments, community involvement and leadership roles, and an essay on current environmental threats.
The scholarship recipients entering college are:
- Bethany Allen, who is graduating from Anderson County High School and will be attending Roane State Community College;
- Joseph “Grant” Barbour, who is graduating from Oak Ridge High School and will be attending the University of Tennessee;
- Jalen Carter, who is graduating from Hardin Valley Academy and will be attending Averett University;
- Stephanie Hanahan, who is graduating from Valley View High School in Germantown, Ohio, and will be attending the University of Tennessee;
- Jedidiah Long, who is graduating from Lenoir City High School and will be attending the University of Tennessee; and
- Tyler Moore, who is graduating from Zane Trace High School in Chillicothe, Ohio, and will be attending Miami University.
Continuing college students receiving scholarships are Kaitlyn Byrd, who is currently attending Roane State and will be attending the University of Tennessee in the fall, and Christiana Goode, currently attending and continuing at the University of Tennessee.
