Mary Elizabeth Sharp

Mary Elizabeth Sharp, 81, of Yalaha, Fla., and formerly Oak Ridge, was born March 15, 1932, in Johnson City and died May 23, in Yalaha.

Mrs. Sharp was a homemaker, and she loved to travel. She enjoyed many trips with her husband and her sisters. She organized many family reunions, as well as outings for friends to lunch, movies, and other social gatherings and was the “president” of the Oak Ridge Retail Therapy Group.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Oak Ridge and moved to Yalaha in 2006, where she attended the Yalaha Community Church.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Vance of Yalaha, Fla.; daughters, Holly (Greg) Scheider of Rockwood, and Shelly Sharp of Ridge Manor, Fla.; son, Philip (Karen) Sharp of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandchildren, Ricky (Stephanie) Neu, Ray Neu, Robin (Matt) Melton, and Savannah Sharp; great-grandchildren, Baylee Goldston, Mattison Melton, and Cooper Neu; sister, Kathryne (John) Barbee; sisters-in-law, Sue Hollingsworth and Betty (Don) Weir; and nieces, nephews and other loving and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Jennie LeQuire Hollingsworth; a brother, Delbert L. Hollingsworth; and a sister, Sara Chaniott.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on June 29 at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge with a memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. The family also had services in Florida.
