Litton Daugherty, age 86, a resident of Oliver Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 2, at his home.
Mr. Daugherty was born Oct. 9, 1926, in Devonia, Tenn. During his early adulthood, he moved to Oliver Springs, where he has continued to live.
Litton served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. While serving, he received several medals, citations, ribbons, and awards, including the WWII Victory Medal.
Before his retirement in August of 1988, he was employed as an ironworker and he was a member of the Ironworker Local # 384. He previously worked as a coal miner in the New River area coal mines.
He was a faithful Christian and a member of Beech Park Baptist Church, and he formerly attended Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Mr. Daugherty was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Daugherty and Mary Elizabeth Bray Daugherty, and by a sister and her husband, Lillie and Mack Phillips.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Audrie Coday Daugherty of Oliver Springs; by a daughter, Patricia Stiltner and husband Barry, of Oliver Springs; by sons, Litton Bruce Daugherty and wife Vicki, of Chattanooga, Billy Steve “Duff†Daugherty and wife Mickey of Oliver Springs, and David Michael Daugherty and wife Laura, of Clinton; by grandchildren, Jason Stiltner, Matthew Stiltner, Nathan Daugherty, Drew Daugherty, and Erin Forgette, Cody Kitts, and Josh Daugherty; and by five great-grandchildren, Courtney Sierra Stiltner, Katelyn McKenzie Stiltner, Kamryn Elsie Stiltner, Audrie Ann Daugherty, and Mae Noel Daugherty; and two great-grandchildren who will be forthcoming, Elijah Charles Daugherty and Litton Joseph Daugherty.
He is also survived by a sister, Alma Haney and husband Willard, of Clinton; by a special nephew, Vernon Phillips of Clinton; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 4, between 4 and 6 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 6 p.m. in the old sanctuary of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, with Pastor Bruce Daugherty officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
