Richard Weldon

Richard Weldon, age 93, of Clinton, passed away early Saturday, May 25, at his residence in Clinton.

Richard was a member of Greenway Baptist Church. He worked for Y-12 for 12 years and drove a Greyhound bus before starting his own business, Weldon’s Quality Nursery, which he owned and operated for 32 years. Richard enjoyed working outdoors, fishing, gardening, and being with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Erna Mae Weldon; parents, Lewis and Jenny Weldon; brothers, Robert, Bud, Howard, and Leo Weldon; sisters, Cleo Weldon and Jessie Hall; and brother–in-law Mickey Phillips.

Richard is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carolyn Weldon; son, John Richard Weldon and wife Amy of Clinton; brother, James Odell Weldon of Alabama; brother-in-law, Michael Phillips of Wartburg and sisters-in-law, Cindy Phillips and Penny Carol all of Wartburg; and grandchildren, Dane, Hanna, Ashley, Nina “Gracie,” and Samuel; mother and father-in-law, Charles and Bertha Phillips of Wartburg; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Richard’s wishes were for donations to be sent to Grace Christian Academy for Nina Grace Weldon and Samuel Weldon.

Jones Mortuary in Clinton was in charge of all arrangements.
