Y-12 work day at the Wildcat Den

Posted at 11:09 am June 1, 2012
By Dawn Huotari 1 Comment

Y-12 National Security Complex employees will be at the Wildcat Den at 8:30 a.m. Saturday for a work day.

The volunteers plan on working on the driveway and trim the back yard.

If workers have gardening tools, such as rakes, gloves, and hedge trimmers, they are asked to bring them.

The Wildcat Den is at the Midtown Community Center at 102 Robertsville Road.

For more information, call Donna Bennett at (865) 719-6398.

I still wish there would be a way for these volunteers to help with “yards” in the Oak Ridge Reservation. I don’t live there now but grew up from May 1944 – 1962 (graduated ORHS). Not tooting my horn, however, myself along with numerous other former OR’s are donating money to help with various “yard” situations because the owners are elderly and/or too sick. Isn’t there “anything” the City can do to assist these people, consequently giving a new, clean look to various properties?? Maybe the Y-12 volunteers?
