Barbara Anne Brown, age 55, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Tuesday, April 30.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Brown Jr., and by her precious dog, Pebbles.
Barbara is survived by her mother, Cleopatra Halburnt Brown of Oliver Springs; by sisters, Mary Sue Leagan and husband Gary, of Virginia Beach, Va., Shirley Sweeten and husband Dan, of Lenoir City, and Linda Gilmore and husband Terry, of Rockwood; and by brothers, John Brown of Harriman, James Brown and wife Vickie, of Harriman, Edgar Brown and wife Diane, of Oakdale, and Daniel Brown of Harriman. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many special friends.
Barbara graduated from Berea College in Berea, Ky., with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She was a medical clerk in the Oak Ridge area for many years, specializing in medical insurance claims, and she was presently employed at Parkway Cardiology. She was an active member of the Oliver Springs Historical Society, serving as secretary for many years and volunteering and working on many projects and events.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 4, between 1 and 3 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Todd Thomason, husband of Barbara’s niece, Kristen, officiating. Burial and graveside services will follow at the Oliver Springs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Oliver Springs Historical Society.
