Carl James Taylor Sr.

Carl James Taylor Sr., age 81, passed away Monday, April 29, at Methodist Medical Center.

James was a member of Jarnigan Chapel Baptist Church. He loved fishing, gardening, bird watching, and camping. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and loved spending time with his family.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Taylor; wife, Shirley Taylor; brothers, John Jr. and Rev. Jack Taylor; sisters, Katherine, Viola, Alma Jane, and Alice; and great-granddaughter, Jaylon.

Carl is survived by his sons, Carl “James” Taylor Jr. of Clinton, George Wesley “Jody” Taylor and Joey, of Oak Ridge; daughters, Jeanne Rhodey and husband Steve, of Clinton, Patricia “Patsy” Whiteaker and husband Tim, of Andersonville, Linda Long and husband Marvin, of Clinton; brothers, Bill Taylor of Clinton, Louis Braden and wife Carol, of Clinton; brother and sister-in-laws, Tom and Lana Flo, Martha Lou, Sue and J.D., and Ronnie and Lela and Dot; grandchildren, Dessie, Jason, Jessica, Sabra, Emilee, J.T. Todd, and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Abbigail, Amanda, Joeson, Olivia, Bryce, Addison, Jameson, Jaxson, Wesley, Jordan, and Gracie.

Carl’s family will receive his friends on Thursday, May 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary. His funeral service will be Friday, May 3, in the chapel of Jones Mortuary at 1 p.m. with Sam White and Rev. Don Moore officiating. Carl’s interment will immediately follow his funeral service at Jarnigan Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Clinton with full military honors.

Jones Mortuary in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity or act of kindness of your choice.
