Mary Imogene Murrah

Mary Imogene Murrah, 86, of Knoxville, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on April 11.

She was born to parents W.B. and Cecil Lowery Casteel in Knoxville on March 9, 1927. Mrs. Murrah retired as the supervisor of housekeeping at Shannondale Retirement Home, and was a member of Royce Baptist Church in Oak Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Elbert Murrah, on Sept. 1, 2012.

Her survivors include her sons, Jack David Murrah and wife Sherry, of Knoxville, and Robert T. Murrah, of Mobile, Ala.; granddaughters, Julie Kerkeles and husband Kenneth, of Knoxville, and Mary Durham and husband Rusty, of Nashville; great-grandchildren, Riley and Tyler Lis; brothers, Raymond Casteel, of Maryville, and Robert Casteel, Knoxville; and sister, Edna Jane Nagle, of Illinois.

The funeral service was held Monday, April 15, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Mike Harbin officiating. The graveside service was held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, at Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery in Knoxville.

The family received friends Monday, April 15, from 2–4 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge. An online guest book may be signed at weatherfordmortuary.com.
