With April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Crisis Center has joined with Abuse Alternatives to present the 3rd annual “The Clothesline Project: Quilting Together Recovery†on Saturday, April 13, in Bristol, Tenn.
This event, which honors women who have been affected by sexual and domestic violence, runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and takes place at “Downtown Center†Farmer’s Market/Mural park on State Street in Downtown Bristol. Oak Ridger Mare Martell is one of the speakers.
“The Clothesline Project†brings awareness to violence, including sexual assault and domestic abuse, provides support to survivors of abuse, as well as information on how to identify and prevent sexual and domestic violence.
The Clothesline Project will feature music from Jake Quillin, Steve Gilbert, Jimi Hall, Rachel Siksay, J.P. Parsons, and Alli Epperson. The other speakers for this event include Della McGuire and Rita Newell.
Other activities include food from Bonefire Smokehouse, family-friendly activities including Katmandew Face and Body Art, sidewalk chalk, and homemade Mother’s Day cards and games. Daniel Pigeon will also be there as well to give chair massages.
Representatives from the agency will have information on hand to help with recovery of violence.
The Crisis Center is an agency that has been in service for 40 years, providing education, advocacy, and intervention to those experiencing a personal crisis with a focus on violence to self and towards others.
