Mildred Marie Silvey

Mildred Marie Silvey, age 85, a resident of Oliver Springs, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 4, at Methodist Medical Center.

Mrs. Silvey was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Anderson County. She was a lifelong resident of this area.

Mildred was a member of the Church Of God, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

For several years before her retirement, she was employed at Pic-Air in Oak Ridge, and she previously worked at Burlington Mills in Harriman.

She enjoyed quilting, and she was generous with the quilts that she made. She frequently gave them to family. She also enjoyed flower gardening, attending yard sales, and making crafts.

Mrs. Silvey was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Verdie Goodman; by a brother, Johnny Goodman; and by a sister, Louella Mitchell.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, A.K. Silvey of Oliver Springs; by a daughter, Mary Etta and husband D.M. “Doc” Harvey of Harriman; by a son, Roy Silvey and wife Virginia of Oliver Springs; by grandchildren, Sonya Thomas and husband Kenny of Knoxville, Mike Harvey and wife Melissa, Randy Silvey and wife Jill, and Raeshell Maples and husband Wayne, all of Oliver Springs; by great-grandchildren, Stephanie Owens, Tiffany Arney, Amber Harvey, Josh Harvey, Jomack Silvey, Parker Silvey, and Elizabeth Maples; and by great-great-grandchildren, Alex, Malachi, Kayleigh, Justice, and Evan.

She is also survived by a brother, Riley Goodman and wife Lucille, of Oliver Springs; by a sister, Mary Brooks and husband Chester of Oliver Springs; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 6, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Garvan Walls and Rev. D.M. “Doc” Harvey officiating. Burial and graveside services will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
