The Knoxville Police Department said one of the drivers involved in a crash that killed a Clinton woman last week could face charges in connection with that accident.
The wreck occurred on Wednesday, March 20, at about 8:30 a.m. on Clinton Highway.
Knoxville Police say a Chevy Monte Carlo driven by James Daugherty, 51, of Clinton, was traveling south in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with a minivan driven by a 69-year-old Rutledge man. Sharon Barison, 48, of Clinton, Daugherty’s front-seat passenger, died from her injuries, while Daugherty and a woman in the backseat were taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
The KPD said none of the three occupants of the Monte Carlo had seatbelts on. The driver of the van was wearing a seatbelt and escaped injury.
Officers reported that speeding was a factor in the accident.
