Thomas William MacMurdo

Thomas William MacMurdo, age 73, a resident of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, March 15, at Methodist Medical Center.

Mr. MacMurdo was born Dec. 31, 1939, in Ellwood City, Pa. He lived in Palmetto, Fla., for 30 years before moving to Oak Ridge in 2008.

Thomas retired in 2005 as a professional truck driver from Commercial Carrier Corporation. He previously owned and operated J&T Trucking.

His hobbies included golfing, and he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers football fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas MacMurdo and Ada Bernice Laughlin MacMurdo.

Mr. MacMurdo is survived by his wife, Josephine MacMurdo of Oak Ridge; by his children, Thomas Randall MacMurdo and wife Jerri of Ellwood City, Pa., Beth Ann Keaser and husband Joseph of Bradenton, Fla., Agnes A. Arantz and husband Todd of Oliver Springs, Robert Jason Garrett and wife, Carrie of Palmetto, Fla., and Michael Wayne Garrett and wife Nicole of Maryville; and by 14 grandchildren.

He is also survived by a sister, Ruth Ann Cunningham and husband William of New Castle, Pa.; by a brother, Richard A. MacMurdo and wife Linda of Ellwood, Pa.; and by extended family members and special friends, including Dr. Kenny Edmondshire, whom the family considered as his guardian angel.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 21, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Nick Hill officiating.

Burial and graveside services will be held Friday, March 22, at 10 a.m. at Anderson memorial Gardens.
