Ava Rose Brown
A concert in Oliver Springs tonight will help a family with an infant with serious health problems.
The gospel benefit concert for Ava Rose Brown is scheduled from 6-9 p.m. today at Beech Park Baptist Church on East Tri County Boulevard in Oliver Springs.
It will help Ava Rose’s parents, Tiffany and Eddie Brown, purchase a van and remodel their home, concert organizer and family friend Kevin Craft said. He said Eddie and Tiffany Brown, who also have two other children, are now living with a relative in Oak Ridge, and their home is partially remodeled.
They haven’t been able to work because they take turns sleeping and taking care of Ava Rose, along with a full-time nursing staff.
“They don’t have much coming in at all, very, very little to go on,” Craft said.
Ava Rose has a respiratory virus, small lungs, a hole in her heart, a cleft palate, and a rare brain anomaly that surgery cannot fix. She is six months old and has been in the hospital for four of those six months. She has been released from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, but is still on a ventilator because of her respiratory ailment, known as RSV.
Performers tonight include Southern gospel musicians Donna Gehrig of Clinton, New Calvary Echoes of Knoxville, and Mike Sutherland of Knoxville; bluegrass and gospel group New Harvest of LaFollette; and Craft, who will serve as master of ceremonies and sing a few songs.
Craft said there will be a “love offering” about halfway through the service. There will be a short slide presentation before the concert.
Those who can’t attend can donate by dropping off a check payable to Trinity Baptist Church/Support Baby Ava Rose at a local Regions Bank.
“Thanks goes out to a lot of people involved in this,” Craft said.
