A Wednesday program will help entrepreneurs understand certifications for small and disadvantaged businesses.

It’s presented by the Tennessee Small Business Development Center and University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services. It’s scheduled from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce.

The topic is “8(a) Business Development Program.” The 8(a) Business Development Program was created to help small and disadvantaged businesses compete in the marketplace, a press release said. It also helps these companies gain access to federal and private procurement markets.

The Wednesday program will help small businesses learn more about the program and find out if they could qualify for it.

The speaker is Paul Middlebrooks, a marketing consultant in the Procurement Technical Assistance Center at the University of Tennessee’s Center for Industrial Services.

Attendance is free, but reservations are required. To sign up, call Jutta Bangs at the TSBDC at (865) 483-2668 or send her an e-mail jbangs@tsbdc.org.

The Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce is at 1400 Oak Ridge Turnpike.
