A possible expansion of Medicaid will be discussed at an Anderson County Interagency Coalition meeting next week.
Representatives of all health and social service providers in Anderson County are invited to attend, a press release said.
The meeting will be held at the Anderson County Health Department from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Teresa Brittain of the Free Medical Clinic of Oak Ridge and Mike Belbeck of Methodist Medical Center will give a presentation titled, “Medicaid Expansion: What does it mean for you and your clients?†Social service providers can learn about the possible impact on their agencies and clients based on Tennessee’s decision on whether or not to take part in the expansion of Medicaid.
The Anderson County Health Department is located at 710 N. Main St. in Clinton.
ACIC was formed to bring all nonprofit and for-profit health and social service providers together to resolve issues of common concern, improve coordination of services and to identify and improve resources to support these services, the press release said. Meeting locations alternate between Clinton and Oak Ridge and are announced prior to each meeting.
Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch. Chocolates will be provided by ACIC, the release said.
Reservations are not required but appreciated and may be made by calling Rick Morrow at the United Way of Anderson County at (865) 483-8431.
Abbey Nelson says
Do you know if there will be a representative from the State there to help explain Obamacare’s implications?
Rick Morrow says
No one from the state will be coming. Mike Belbeck, CAO of MMC and Teresa Brittain of the Free medical Clinic will speak.
David A. Vudragovich says
Rick, Do you know if it will be on just Medicaid or if there will be talk about how this work with Medicare Advantage Plans and Special Need Plans?
Rick Morrow says
It will be addressing the issues related to Medicaid expansion in TN. MMC is one on the hospitals identified as at risk if the expansion does not occur. Attendees will hear about how changes to our health care payment system will effect them as well as the clients they serve.
David A. Vudragovich says
Thank you for posting this John, I will see you there! I think this might be helpful since I was at the Anderson DHS with a client yesterday.
