Oak Ridge Today switches to new e-mail subscription system

Oak Ridge Today recently switched to a new e-mail subscription system.

Our previous e-mail subscription system sends out headlines and excerpts of all new posts in all categories, including news, entertainment, faith, sports, opinion, and obituaries. By default, subscribers receive these alerts immediately, although they can change the delivery frequency.

We have removed the sign-up form for this system from Oak Ridge Today, but the system is still active for existing subscribers.

The new e-mail subscription system, available through a product called MailChimp, sends out headlines and excerpts of news headlines once a day, usually early in the morning. It does not include posts in other categories, such as entertainment, faith, sports, opinion, and obituaries.

We are investigating options that would let us send out news alerts immediately for breaking news.

We are also willing to consider setting up news alerts on the new system for posts in the other categories (entertainment, faith, sports, opinion, and obituaries). Please let us know if that is something you would like us to consider.

If you signed up for news alerts from Oak Ridge Today in January or February, then you are likely receiving them through the new system. But if you signed up between March and December of last year, or very early in January, then you should be getting our news alerts through the old system.

Please let us know if you have any questions or comments. You can contact John Huotari at john.huotari@oakridgetoday.com.

Thank you for reading Oak Ridge Today.

Thank you. Maybe we’ll try to offer that choice then under the new system as well.

Have to admit, I love the way I get the alerts, when and what they are.
