Hazel Virginia Waldo Clifton

Hazel Virginia Waldo Clifton, age 94, of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, at Emeritus Senior Living.

She was born Aug. 10, 1918, in Spring City, the daughter of Perry and Vinny Kern Waldo.

Mrs. Clifton was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church, and before her health began to fail, she was active in many of the church activities and sang in the choir. She enjoyed gardening and knitting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Robert Rue Clifton in 1998; daughter, Janet Marie Clifton Mason in 2006; and son-in-law, Richard Timothy Greene in 2004.

She is survived by daughter, Joyce Ann Clifton Greene of Knoxville; two grandsons, Robert Brian Mason and his wife Kim of Knoxville, and William Joseph Mason and his wife Amy of Lakeland, Fla.; and four great-grandsons, Will, Noah, Trent, and Logan.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Feb. 10, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, at 2:30 p.m. at the Glen Alice Christian Church Cemetery in Roane County. Rev. Glenn Ellis will officiate.

The family asks that any memorials be made to Alzheimer’s TN, P.O. Box 10088, Knoxville, TN 37939-9910.
