Henry Vann Burris, age 88, a resident of the Dyllis Community in Roane County, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Scott Ball.
Mr. Burris was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Oliver Springs. He lived in Oak Ridge and Knoxville for several years. He has lived in Dyllis for the past three years.
Before his retirement in 1981, he owned and operated the Oak Ridge Yellow Cab Company for 35 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Vann Burris; by his first wife, Maude Merritt Burris; and by a daughter, Audrey Thompson.
Mr. Burris is survived by his wife, Drucilla Burris of Knoxville; by a daughter, Connie Ball and husband Scott of the Dyllis community; by a son, Richard Burris and wife Anna of Clinton; by grandchildren, Rick Burris and wife Lena of Lake City, Emily Friedman and husband Nathan of Oak Ridge, Aaron Thompson and wife Bobbi of California, Cole Thompson and wife Tammy of Utah, and Kellie Ball and Logan Ball of Dyllis; by nine great-grandchildren; and by a stepson, Danny Clark and his wife Vonette and family of Knoxville.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 9, between 5 and 7 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial and graveside services will be held Sunday, Feb. 10, at 12 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
