Joan Ava Lawson

Joan Ava Lawson, age 64, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Methodist Medical Center.

Mrs. Lawson was born July 1, 1948, in Anderson County. She is a lifelong resident of this area.

Joan was employed as a document librarian at U.S.E.C. of Oak Ridge.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.

Joan was a faithful Christian and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mose Daugherty and Glenna Lowe Daugherty.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Kenneth Lawson of Oliver Springs; by sons, Robert Bryan Lawson and wife Dena of Harriman, and Christopher Kenneth Lawson and wife Andrea of Harriman; and by four granddaughters, Kayla, Megan, Victoria, and Maddlynn Lawson.

She is also survived by a brother, Don Allen Daugherty and wife Molly of Morris, Ill.; by sisters, Debbie Smith and husband J. of Florida, and Wanda Miller of Florida; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 2, between 5 and 6 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating.
